Kate F.
A promotional video for conceptual artist Kate F. from Andorra about her new collection of paintings was filmed in the format of creative improvisation. The artist set the desired general format in advance, approved the locations and described what she would like to see. The author of the project was Alex Aleinikov, who compiled the storyboard, lighting schemes and general mood of all promotional videos.
As a result, we had to shoot promotional videos on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. From the long video, we made several short ones in dark and light tones. The artist wanted to present her new collection of works in this way, made using an unusual technique with relief paints, which add a play of light and shadow that is characteristic only of them.
Task
To shoot a creative, author's promotional video for an artist who creates her paintings in an unusual form. She uses materials and paints that create texture and volume, cracks and waves - all this, under a certain light, reveals an additional side to the canvas.
⬤ 01. Challenge
It was necessary to shoot a creative promotional video that would look unusual.
We filmed a promotional video for artist Kate F. in Warsaw in a historic house that is over 200 years old. Her creative paintings are very easy and interesting to shoot due to their non-trivial nature. In addition to the colors, her works have a relief that creates a play of light and shadow. It took us 5 days to make the video for a conceptual artist interesting.
The difficulty lay in the simplicity of the idea for the video that was to be made. At first, it seemed that the chosen plans would not allow us to mount such a promotional video that would simultaneously promote the artist’s new collection and look creative. It seems that we managed to shoot a commercial video.
Only 5 people worked on the project, three locations and a week of work. As a result, we have one video in the traditional 16:9 format and two videos for social networks in the vertical 9:16 format.
⬤ 02. Production and post
A creative video for a conceptual artist like this very often doesn’t cost too much due to the niche segment.
A video for a conceptual artist should not be too creative, otherwise there is a risk of rejection. If the video is too complex, people simply won’t understand it. Therefore, we decided to concentrate on the artist and her works, slightly framing them with creativity. That is why this promo video by the artist turned out to be both simple and interesting.
The final goal of a video of this genre is to test a hypothesis, for example, whether people will like a collection or another product. At this stage of promotion, there is often no point in making an expensive promotional video.
Our video production company planned to prepare video versions of all possible formats for each social network, horizontal and vertical videos (reels).

There is virtually no color grading in the final videos. Some bright colors are slightly muted, a standard conversion LUT is applied, but otherwise everything is kept unchanged.
No additional effects were used in these videos; there is no graining or other additional distortion. Noise reduction was used in some shots to keep the picture clean.
⬤ 03. Equipment
